XM Brands Settles Claims With Acai Consumers

January 14, 2011

XM Brands, which is a Florida company, has recently stated that they will be reimbursing consumers that made online purchases of acai berry pills, colon cleansers, and teeth whiteners. The company has agreed to reimburse consumers for these purchases as part of their settlement with the state of Florida.

The State of Florida claims that XM Brands has billed numerous consumers incorrectly. Some consumers have been billed for products they never even ordered, while others are being billed for products that they bought on a trial basis, such as the Acai Diet Pills. Over 2,800 consumers have filed a complaint with the Southeast Florida’s Better Business Bureau, which is what prompted an investigation into the company.

XM Brands has fully cooperated with the investigation. Currently they have paid out $3 million dollars in restitution, but they aren’t done yet. Consumers still have until April 29, 2011 to file a claim with the State of Florida, but must meet the guidelines. Consumers eligible to file a claim include any who were enrolled in automatic shipment or automatic renewal program or ones who signed up for a trail offer, but they must not have received a refund yet.
