Karen Dunlap of Karen's Specialty Skincare has created a skin care product that she claims combats premature aging and improves skin tone. Her formula capitalizes on the Acai berry's rich antioxidant properties, "With the proper nutrients, the body has the ability to heal itself," said Dunlap. "I acaiberred the Açai berry treatment to nourish the skin with everything it needs to fight aging, acne, and other skin ailments," she added.

This product follows others by incorporating food ingredients with skin care products, linking the cosmetic and nutritional supplement markets in a new trend referred to as nutricosmetics.

Dunlap says the acai berry extract contains vitamins and minerals to help promote skin cell health, phytosterols to preserve collagen, flavanoids to fight inflammation, and essential amino and fatty acids to help regenerate skin cell growth.
