The mangosteen is often termed "Queen of the Fruits" and was adopted by Thailand as its national fruit. It's a fruit native to Southeast Asia but grows in other tropical climates such as the Carribean and parts of South America.
The fruit is about the size of an orange with a deep purple rind similar in color to an eggplant (or aubergine). The inside of the mangosteen contains a delicious pulp divided into sections, the sections of fruit determined by the number of pedals on the original flower of the fruit.
